Munyona Foundation is a youth-led nonprofit organization born from the heart of Butaleja District, Uganda, a community that has lived through the realities of poverty, early marriage, unemployment, and the growing threat of climate change.
We are not outsiders looking in. We are community members who have seen the challenges firsthand, felt their weight personally, and chosen to respond with purpose, passion, and action.
Driven by a deep belief that every woman, girl, and young person deserves the chance to rise, we work on the ground every day to empower communities through education, leadership development, economic empowerment, and sustainable initiatives that build climate resilience and create lasting prosperity.
We champion girls who are at risk of early marriage. We walk alongside women building their first businesses. We equip youth with skills, mentorship, and opportunities that open doors that were once closed to them. We plant trees, promote sustainable agriculture, and fight for a cleaner, more resilient environment for the generations that come after us.

"My own life growing up in Butaleja District, where I saw poverty, early marriages, teenage pregnancies, climate change issues, and a lack of opportunity hold back many young people, inspired the Munyona Foundation. This foundation is my promise to make sure that other young people, especially girls and at risk youth, have a chance to rise, succeed and change their communities."
Hasahya Takia
Finance Manager
Hasahya Takia is the Finance Manager at the Munyona Foundation and a student at Kyambogo University. She is a motivated and detail-oriented young professional with experience in student financial leadership, having served in several finance positions within the Bunyole Student Development Association. In her role, she supports budgeting, financial reporting, and ensures financial transparency and efficiency.
Shakulu Maligha
Education & Development Officer
Shakulu Maligha serves as the Education and Development Officer at the Munyona Foundation and is a student at Kyambogo University. He previously served as President of the Bunyole Students’ Development Association. In his role, he supports education and development activities, with a focus on community engagement, partnerships, learning opportunities, and climate change awareness.
Kisule Ronald
Media & Communication Manager
Kisule Ronald serves as the Media and Communication Manager at the Munyona Foundation. He is passionate about using media to support community development and positive change, working closely with local artists in Butaleja District to promote love, unity, and transformation. He believes media offers a meaningful platform to address youth challenges.
Matambile Simon
Media & Communications Manager Assistant
Matambile Simon supports Munyona Foundation's media and communication department. He helps share the stories of the women, youth, and communities the Foundation empowers across Uganda. He assists with social media management, media relations, and advocacy content on issues like ending early marriages, promoting entrepreneurship, and driving climate action.
Enry Muteesasira
Counselor (Mental Health Expert)
Enry Muteesasira is a counselor and mental health expert driven to be part of the solution for people facing difficult backgrounds and unmet emotional needs. Through compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based counselling, he works to create safe spaces where every individual feels heard, valued, and empowered to overcome life's challenges.
Asiimwe Catherine
Legal Advisor
Asiimwe Catherine is a law student at Islamic University in Uganda Kibuli Campus and serves as the Student Legal Advisor at the Munyona Foundation. She joined the foundation to stand for unheard voices, especially youth and women seeking access to justice and legal rights, helping them understand the law in simple ways and feel protected.
Mwebe Joel
Logistics & Procurement Officer
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Land Surveying and serves as the Logistics and Procurement Officer at the Munyona Foundation. He joined the foundation because he wanted to be part of something that truly changes people’s lives, coordinating logistics and procurement activities to ensure programs run smoothly and effectively.
Mukama Muhammad
IT Specialist
Mukama Muhammad serves as the IT Specialist at the Munyona Foundation. He is passionate about technology and innovation, with a strong interest in using digital solutions to support communication, learning, and community development. In his role, he supports the foundation’s technical and digital operations.
Wasige Fahad
Community Coordinator
Is the Community Coordinator at the Munyona Foundation. He is a youth, born and raised in Butaleja District. His passion for helping his fellow youth and supporting community development inspired him to join and grow with the foundation. He believes in the organisation’s mission of empowering youth and women through education and life-changing opportunities. In his role, he supports daily operations, coordinates programs and works closely with the team to create positive impact in the community.
Malwa John Collins
Director of Programs
Malwa John Collins is a devoted director of programs whose leadership and dedication to community development continue to spur constructive change. He has a passion for strengthening communities, promoting sustainable ideas, and making a significant social effect through his work at the Munyona Foundation. His skill, vision, and commitment to service exemplify the genuine essence of humanitarian leadership.
Namuheni Joan Winnie
Board Member
Is a Board Member, development professional currently working with the Mastercard Foundation in Uganda. She has experience in grant writing, fundraising, impact storytelling, editing, and monitoring and evaluation. Passionate about education, especially for underprivileged communities, she is committed to creating opportunities that empower individuals and drive sustainable social impact.
Muguli John
General Secretary
John Muguli is a born of Namulo in Himutu subcounty Bunyole East, Butaleja District. He is exceedingly humbled and profoundly honored to be part of Munyona Foundation and to be entrusted in the position of General Secretary.
Eva Nanono
Senior Accountant
Eva is a Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences student studying international taxation and law who motivates young people with her enthusiasm for empowerment. She is a fervent advocate for providing young girls, particularly victims of early marriages, with practical skills to establish sustainable livelihoods and rekindle hope.
Samuel Richardson
Honorary Member
Samuel is a student at Hochschule Rhein-Waal(HSRW), is humbled and sincerely honored to be appointed as an honorary member of the Munyona Foundation. He greatly appreciates this opportunity and looks forward to supporting the Foundation’s mission and values.
